Scope

This policy describes the current Tripstow iPhone app from Bent Moon Studio, including beta versions called Travel Station or Trip Companion, and these Tripstow information pages. It does not describe the studio’s other apps.

Information on your device

Trip details, schedules, notes, packing lists, saved locations, imported documents, and photos are stored in the app’s local storage on your iPhone. The app does not require a Tripstow account or provide cloud sync.

Document text extraction and photo text recognition run on the device. Tripstow does not upload your documents or photos to a document-processing or AI server. It does not include advertising or third-party analytics SDKs.

Camera access is used when you choose to photograph a document. Photo and file pickers let you choose items to import. You can manage system permissions in iPhone Settings. Apple’s device-backup and diagnostic services are governed by your Apple settings and policies.

Requests to other services

Some features need a network connection. The receiving services can see the information needed for the request and ordinary connection information, such as your IP address.

• Apple Maps: map display and place searches use Apple’s services. Searches can include a place or address and relevant area context.
• Open-Meteo: forecast requests include destination coordinates and a time zone. Reservation documents, traveler names, and booking references are not included.
• U.S. Naval Observatory: moon-phase requests include a date and the number of results requested.
• USGS: if you enable offline topo downloads, map-tile requests identify the areas and zoom levels being downloaded.
• External links: opening navigation, weather, restaurant, shopping, or other links passes the relevant link or destination to the chosen service.

Those services handle requests under their own policies: Apple, Open-Meteo, USNO, and USGS.

Sharing is your choice

Nothing is automatically sent to ChatGPT or another planning assistant. If you export or share information, the recipient or service you select receives what you send. Trip exports include plans, notes, packing information, retained history, and document references. They do not include the original document or photo files.

Review exports before sharing, especially retained history and notes. If you separately share an original document, its contents are included in that share.

Keeping and removing information

Local information remains until you remove it or the app’s data is deleted. You can delete trips, events, documents, and packing items in the app. Archived events and earlier revisions can retain their information and attachments until you clear the relevant history. Turning off map downloads does not delete maps already saved.

Copies in exports, other apps, recipient devices, or device backups are separate and must be managed there. Tripstow’s JSON export is not a complete backup of original attachments.

Support and this website

If you contact us or send beta feedback, the information you choose to include is used to understand and respond to your request. Avoid including private travel documents when a short description will do. Apple processes TestFlight feedback under its own policies.

These Tripstow pages do not add advertising, analytics scripts, or tracking cookies. They are hosted by Netlify, which processes ordinary web request data to deliver and protect the site. See Netlify’s privacy policy.
